The Fishers/Fants decided to meet in Uncertain, TX on Mother's Day weekend (also Bob & David's birthday) and investigate Caddo Lake. Named after the Caddo Indians this lake is the only 'natural' lake in Texas. It was formed by an unnatural accumulation of naturally downed trees, primarily Cottonwood, along the Red River and it's tributaries. The resulting rising water flooded Caddo Indian lands and eventually provided a navagatable waterway all the way from New Orleans to East Texas. The indians, by the way, were warned by their gods that trouble was coming, so they left for higher grounds in time to avoid the pending disaster.

Carolyne
& I arrived first, checked in to our cottage (Red #1) and waited for
Bud & LaVona and the Fants who arrived later with their "cottage".

While waiting, we decided
to go to the local store for lunch. The bar-b-q was very good!
When Bud & LaVona arrived,
we walked to the lake to inspect the facilities for mooring our boat and
lakeside relaxation. All was quite pleasantly in order.
Friday night we put the boat
in at Shady Grove and took a self guided tour from the dock at Hodge Podge
Lodges.

The sunsets are beautiful! We then all got together for dinner at the cottages. |

Saturday
morning was time to plan the next couple of days. Bob & Bud also rested
their foot injuries, motorcycle & trampoline. Lake tours were on the
top of the activity list.
We
started out with self guided tours which included some fishing, but all
we caught was beautiful scenery though Daryl really gave it a good try.
