I guess you could say is a second generation Belson thing inspired by Carolyne in remembrance of her father's east Texas 'camps' constructed along the Sabine River during her earlier years. Our place is much north of her old stomping grounds and a little west, about smack dab in the middle of Davy Crockett National Forest.

Besides the natural feel of being in the forest, an additional benefit is being close to our neighbors, my sister Sylvia and her family. She lives literally across the dirt road. Her first son Daryl, his new wife Jessica and son Logan, live about 3/4 mile down the road. Pete, her younger son has property adjacent to Daryl. And Amanda, her daughter lives on David & Sylvia's 'Possum Walk Farm' where they raise and train endurance horses, primarily Arabian. They host endurance rides as well. I get to be a cook for them. I love it! My specialties have become smoked brisket for dinner and chorizo & eggs for breakfast. David taught me how to smoke meats! Thank you very much.

Everything seems to revolve around the Fant's house. That's because the rest of us are the 'new folks' in the neighborhood. David & Sylvia are pleased we are here, if for no other reason than they are no longer are the newest residents. They have been here about 7 years now.

This is the front of their house looking from the driveway.

If you turn around in the driveway and look over the fence to the south, you will see where the Fant's pond lies. You couldn't see the water at this time because the banks were at a higher elevation back then. David had them worked this year (2005) and you can see the water from here now. Yo can see the over turned boat on the right side. This is another relic from Carolyne's Dad, through me. The Ducks going to the pond were an experiment that unfortunately didn't work out. It's just a little too wild here for them to have survived.
Though not as constraining for seeing the horizon as are the Rocky mountains, the trees here do interfere. However, the sunsets can be spectacular. This one gave us a good look at the moon coming up with cotton candy clouds whiffing above. This view is a little more toward the southeast.

From the Fant's if you walk north about 1/4 mile, you will reach our main gate You can barely see our dog, Freddy, guarding the entrance.

After entering the gate, watch out for Freddy, up to the right you will see what Carolyne calls "Our palatial single-wide". She is standing with her brother-in-law Ira Fielding, her sister Patty's husband. This picture was taken around Thanksgiving when Ira & Patty paid us a visit.
Come on up on the porch and you might see a sight like this one of Daryl having morning coffee with Carolyne. This is in the greener summer season.
The view from the porch includes the 'gazebo' and fire ring area where we spend a lot of time around campfires at night even in the summer. If you have the patience, you will see much more of this area when it is an active place.
Three sheds occupy the space just to the south of the mobile home. The one in the foreground is my'shop' where I keep tools and use for work space. Behind it is the 'garage' for the lawn mowers and 4-wheeler. The metal building in the far background houses primarily my fishing and camping gear.
The property is a right triangle with the 90 degree corner to the north and east. From that corner the property line goes directly south to the road not far from the Fant's driveway. This, the narrowest part of the property contains the building you can hardly see in the picture. It is,as far as we can tell, a derelict hog shed. We deliberated razing it, but it provides some historical interest, so we have cleaned the area considerably since this was taken. The two posts provide us our 'back gate'.
